I haven’t always had the best of luck making hummus that I actually liked until now!! This is pretty close to the real thing, you know that super creamy, pale, delicious restaurant hummus, YUM!!  You can top it with various herbs, olive oil, some of the whole beans, lemon juice, etc….I had some with crackers and on a piece of my moms homemade bread (best ever) with a sliced hard boiled egg, what perfect breakfast!!

If you have the time to make your own beans (I’m super impatient) it would be even better!!


1 can garbanzo bean, I only use Eden brand

4 tbsp liquid from the garbanzo beans

3 cloves garlic

juice from 1 lemon

1 tsp salt

1/4 tsp cumin

1/3 cup tahini


Place the garlic, lemon juice and salt in the food processor and blend until the garlic is broke down. Let it sit for about 5 minutes.

Open and strain the beans reserving the liquid.

Remove the garlic mixture from the food processor and strain it smashing the garlic down to release as much of the juice as possible.  Discard the solids.

Place the lemon garlic juice mixture, cumin and tahini in the food processor and mix until smooth adding the garbanzo bean liquid one tablespoon at a time.  Keep mixing until it becomes pale and very smooth.

Add the garbanzo beans (reserve a few for garnish) and mix for a few more minutes or until it is super smooth.  You can add additional liquid if you like a less thick hummus.

Place in a bowl and top with the reserved garbanzo beans, drizzle of olive oil, parsley, paprika, cumin and a little more salt.  Serve with crackers or veggies of you choice.  Enjoy!!
